Black Diamond Apollo

Black Diamond Apollo

May 27 2008,

For a couple of years now every outdoor sport amateur has got a headlamp. The time when normal batteries where used during the vacations is now over. Oil lamps used to light up big tents are also being replaced by gas lamps. Next to a good lighting capacity, they offer quite much heat during cold camping nights. With the Apollo, Black Diamond proposes a new solution working with batteries.

The Apollo is a compact lamp, not bigger than a tomate can. The foldable feet manage to put the lamp at 24cm of the ground to offer a better brightening. The LED 3-watt brings a sweet light by the reflectors in the tinted globe. Now on, it isn't a problem to light up a tent for four persons. Actually, the lamp also offers to about ten people the oppurtunity to have a nice after-climbing evening. If you need, by pressing the button, you can even decrease the lighting as much as you want.

The lamp works with 4 AA batteries but the best option is to use it with the NRG Rechargeable Battery Kit that Black Diamond proposes in option. A sustainable solution because instead of throwing each time a battery packing, you'll just have to recharge them. The batteries' lifetime depends of course of the temperature and the intensity of the lamp usage but it will at least last ten evenings, this was the case during the cold nights of Easter.

Black Diamond indicates that the lamp applies perfectly for every camping activity. Cooking, reading, play gampes during 3 hours, the Apollo showed all its qualities. Still better with a bier in the hand of course...
