Siebe Vanhee climbs Tom et Je Ris, 8b+ in Verdon

In addition to having amazing multi-pitch rock climbing routes, Verdon Gorge also offers some superb sport climbing lines. During a climbing road trip in France with the Italian climber Jacopo Larcher, Siebe Vanhee finally spent a bit of time climbing in the famous Verdon Gorge. After waiting for the tufas to dry due to the previous poor weather conditions, the two climbers rushed on “Tom et Je ris” (8b+), an incredible line following wonderful tufas, famous among climbers thanks to a poster of Nicolas Favresse Favresse climbing the route in 2008. After two days working the moves, Siebe and Jacopo both managed to climb the route. Siebe told Belclimb: This is one of the most beautiful sport climbing route I was lucky enough to climb. The approach, the abseil to reach the bottom of the route, the exposure, the huge canyon, the long run outs, the style and the perfect limestone... All these elements together made this experience more intense that everything I have done in the past.”

A few hours later, Siebe and Jacopo were flying to Kalymnos to equip new lines for the next The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival.
