Muriel Sarkany needed quite a few sessions to work out Ultimate Sacrifice, 8c+ at Deverse, close to Nice. After having climbed several 8cs at the same crag over the last 12 months, this route proved to be a real challenge.
Early August, I left Nice for Briançon, she tells us. Always trying the same moves was getting me down, so I took a 10-day break to onsight some routes at higher-altitude crags. My friends made me discover new areas.
The outcome for Muriel? She returned to Nice fresh and full of energy to get back on the route. Last Tuesday at 11:00, it was already 30°C at the crag. The holds were already moist when Muriel started in Ultimate Sacrifice. The conditions were terrible, but I was feeling great and it worked!
With this send of an 8c+, Muriel reaches another level of difficulty, unseen in Belgium.
