Happy Newyear, but this year without Muriel Sarkany

Belgian climbing legend Muriel Sarkany decided to retire from the international climbing competition circuit. After years of climbing at the absolute top, and defending small Belgium most successfully, she believes it it time for something new.

Muriel not only became World Champion Difficulty in 2003, she also won the Worldcup five times, making her one of the most successful female competition climbers of her generation. Her competition history is most impressive. Muriel said she will now focus on rock climbing and training young climbers.

We wish her all the best, and the very same to all of you! Make 2011 a nice climbing year!
