Primus Primelite DP

Too light...

April 3 2007,

Primus Primelite DP (Daily Plus)

Just before my departure for Tonsai something nice happened: the new Primus PrimeLite DP headlamp PrimeLite DP arrived in my hand. Two and a half months and a half should be enough to test it in every way I was thinking.

Vinz in actionOn first sight, the PrimeLite DP headlamp is a very good product: easy to use, compact and light (50 grams without the 3 AAA batteries). When I arrive at Bangkok and get back my backpack, everything seems normal. It is only at nightfall, two hours later, that I realize a strange light is coming from my bag. The two buttons who seemed perfect are really too sensitive.
Designed to come out of their orifice, they didn?t resist to the slight pressure of my bag. And it wasn?t the only time. Again, traveling with a simple bag with my climbing equipment, the Primelite DP wanted its independence once again...

Hopefully Primus designed an easy system to replace the batteries quickly. The only memories I had of these kinds of headlamps was an endless battle with the small mechanism to access the batteries. Here, nothing of that kind. The swapping is quick even if it had to be done during my stay?
Note that the elastic if not too tight or too sharp. It is ideally placed and allows to choose between six positions. One red LED is proposed for night vision and works automatically when the batteries are low ? witch means often. Besides of that; four white LEDs and the adjustable head assure a very large panel to use it.
Reading a book, walking in the woods at midnight in direction of the bars of Railay or even trying a night climbing session, la Primelite DP is really efficient.
