Black Diamond Tracer
New helmet generation
Black Diamond Tracer Helmet
It is often very important to simplify as many things as you can for the long treks in Chamonix. Alpine style, optimum equipment, maximum speed. At this little game, manufacturers make proof of ingenuity to provide us the lightest and strongest equipment possible.
Leading incontestably Black Diamond hasn?t anything to prove. In their category, the new Tracer Helmet that I recently tested. A helmet developed with polypropylene foam that looks like many other helmets at first sight. In full action at more than 3000 meters, with more than 5 hours of climbing, its advantages quickly appeared. An extremely light weight: 245 g in Medium size witch makes of it one of the lightest helmet available and likely less cumbersome than others. A One-handed micro-adjust system allows to adjust the chin strap with only one hand: quick and sure but also very useful once on the wall. And finally, effective ventilation procured by 14 holes placed on the helmet?s side: very pleasant when the altitude sun strikes. At Cham it?s with much surprise that I didn?t notice any trace of sweating after many hours of effort.
Its price: slightly superior to the average even if we can consider this normal at the view of the helmet?s properties.
As a conclusion, a light and comfortable helmet. More than enough to satisfy a confirmed climber.
