Bleau Open, France rules in Ghent

Bleau Open, France rules in Ghent

With 250 participants spread over four sessions, the Bleau Open is without a doubt the biggest bouldering competition in Belgium. This weekend, the popular event was yet again dominated by the French, who were an unavaidable presence at this 13th edition. The rankings were led by World Champion Mélanie Sandoz and fellow frenchman Guillaume Glairon-Mondet.
Their comments are enthusiastic, a telling sign of their genuine fondness for the Bleau Open. Melanie: “It is the third year that I am competing here and I do not have anything new to add: fun boulders in all styles, a good atmosphere and a warm welcoming. My thanks to the organisers and the routesetters!” Guillaume: “...a true pleasure, great routesetting, friendly people and good organisation!!”
Behind them we can find many well-known and lesser-known climbers. Our young hope Chloé Caulier was hot on Melanie’s heels until the final moves. On the men’s side, Jérôme De Boeck was the highest ranked Belgian with two boulders on-sight, followed by Nicolas Farcy.
