Black Diamond Iris SA

Flying Squirrel

Imagine the large armchair of your childhood. That in which you was seated to look at the cartoons eating a slice of bread with peanut butter. The Iris SA is more or less the equivalent (except that - of course - there is seldom a TV on the crags and that eating a slice of bread during climbing is not very classy), but the feeling of wellbeing and comfort is really there!

Black Diamond is known for its qualitative gear and the least we can say is that by equipping the Iris with the system Speed Adjust, they succeeded in proposing a harness oriented for beginner and/or multi-pitches climber. With an absolutely incredible comfort.

The Speed Adjust, what a nice discovery! Who didn't know the pangs of an urgent need, with a pair of ice crampons or ski boots or no matter what with a harness around the size? The Speed Adjust makes possible to remove the harness by detaching 3 straps without taking off (at least) the shoes. In short, a hand is enough to tighten/loosen the buckles at the size and the legs.

Multi-pitches, certainly. With its 4 gear-loops, the Iris SA makes possible to carry a lot of hardware, and thus to stay climbing on the wall all the time you need. Multi-pitches, of course! With these 3D molded foam waistbelt and leg loops, which integrate the SoftEdge Construction and which thus ensure a maximum of comfort.

For beginner? Indeed. The molded foam doesn't mislead the beginner I am. Beyond the comfort I felt inside, the large aspect of the harness is really reassuring (big straps and strong when handling it) when you don't have extended outdoor experience. But for female above all! Hey guys, don't forget that we speak about the Iris (THE female harness of Black Diamond) and that its morphology is entirely devoted to us!

The first quality of this harness is obviously its comfort. However, the molded waistbelt became little by little awkward as soon as the weather became hot. The signs of perspiration on the buttocks and at the size were my reward for the energy I put in sending the routes.

Taking that into account, I would say that the Iris SA proves its very good quality, that he maintains the features of his big brother (big sister) and that he develops his own strong points. To recommend to beginner (for its comfort and its safe aspect) or to multi-pitches climber (for its comfort and its ability to carry hardware).
